Candle Care

These beauties are made from  soy wax and are environmentally friendly, vegan and biodegradable. They are carefully hand-poured in small batches and not mass produced in a factory, therefore each candle may vary ever so slightly in appearance.

Candle Memory ~ When lighting for the first time, burn until the wax melts all the way to the edge of the jar (usually 4 hours for larger candles). This will create a 'burn memory' and prevent tunnelling. Remember to burn all the way to the edge each time you light your candle.

Maximum Burn Times  ~ Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours maximum each time. Longer than this can damage the wick, causing it to fall over, lift or result in an undesirable burn. Power burning a candle results in too much soot, mushrooming of the wick and a lesser life of the candle. Never power burn any candle as the jar will become too hot and may overheat and crack.

When to Re-light  ~ Allow your candle wax to harden for 1 hour before re-lighting the next time. Trim the wick to 6mm before every burn to promote a steady flame and longevity of your candle.

Groups of Candles  ~ Do not group lit candles together as they can affect each candle's burn quality as one side of each jar will become too hot. Spread candles out at least 10cm apart if lighting more than one candle at a time.

Soot ~ If the flame dances and leaves any black soot on the jar, simply extinguish your candle with a snuffer and wait for the wax to harden, then wipe it off with a tissue or baby wipe. Trim the wick to 6mm and re-light.

Safety First ~ Place the candle on a heat resistant surface. Do not move a lit candle. Never leave a candle unattended while burning. Candles burn best in still air. Keep lit candles away from any wind, ceiling fans or other air currents which will cause uneven smoking and burning. Always keep lit candles out of reach from children, pets, curtains, window coverings and anything flammable.

When to discard ~ Discontinue use when 1/2 inch of wax remains to prevent heat damage. If the candle remains lit and there is not enough wax left in the bottom of the jar, the glass may become too hot and can explode. Wipe out any remaining wax with a tissue and re-purpose your jar.

~ Please note that a larger sized candle will have the ability to scent a larger sized room, while smaller candles are more suited to scent a smaller room, such as a bedroom or a bathroom.

~ Crystal Infused soy candles from the Mystique Collection are perfect for displaying in your home for aesthetic purposes. As the crystals are quite large, they may fall into the wick as the wax melts from the centre towards the outer edge. If you choose to light these beauties, we recommend to just remove the crystals in the first few minutes as the wax starts to melt.
